Kelly Aspinwall from KONE will present a history of elevator technology and what is available today.  You will get a clear understanding of the different types of technologies and the drawbacks vs. benefits for each.

The presentation will specifically discuss the machine room-less elevator solution which removes the machine room from the top or bottom of the building, providing design flexibility, maximizing leasable floor space and minimizing construction costs.  This solution is environmentally friendly which requires 1/3 of the energy of a typical hydraulic elevator, can contribute to LEED credits and unlike a hydraulic system, there is no need to drill a cylinder hole which presents the risk of oil contaminates.

The learning objectives of this session include:

  • Elevator history
  • Conventional elevator technology
  • Technological advances
  • MRL cost and space savings, sustainability benefits, and
  • Future trends
CEU: 1 credit HSW/SD

Lunch will be provided by KONE. Please RSVP by Tuesday, 3/18/14.
