Project Manager / Project Architect (9-14-23)

Wannemacher Jensen Architects, an award-winning practice, provides architectural design, programming, space analysis, interior design, and master planning services to public and private clients. The Project Architect/ Project Manager will be responsible for leading the technical development of architectural systems and details for multiple projects and will work closely with project design teams to maintain the highest level of quality control. The right candidate thrives in a fast-paced, demanding professional environment, is detail-oriented, highly organized, possesses superior technical skills, and great communication skills.

Office Locations: Tarpons Springs, St Petersburg, Sarasota, Miami and West Palm

 Qualifications required:

  • Licensed preferred but not required
  • Minimum 5 years’ total experience in document production and detailing for medium to large-scale projects;
  • Extensive knowledge of architectural design, documentation, detailing, building materials, building codes, and construction technologies;
  • Government or university project experience a plus;
  • Revit proficiency is required; Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suites is a plus. 
  • Superior leadership skills with an emphasis on employee training and coaching;
  • Ability to confidently, clearly, and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with consultant coordination
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative disposition

Job Description: Project Architect 

ALW is seeking a talented and highly organized Project Architect to join our team of professionals. 

 

Summary of Position 

Every team member contributes to the quality of the studio work by applying one’s unique experience, initiative, individual perspective, discipline, and design sensibility. 

 

The Project Architect is the project’s technical leader responsible for the project's successful completion.  

 

Project Architects are responsible for the design, consultant coordination, and documentation of a project from initiation through construction administration. The Project Architect completes work under the direction of the Project Manager/Principal and is responsible for forwarding the project's design excellence and technical performance while working within the project schedule and budget limits. 

 

Minimum Experience, Education, and/or Training 

+        5-8 years of work experience in architectural or related fields. 

+        Bachelor of Architecture, NAAB accredited program. 

 

Responsibilities 

+        Draw and oversee the execution of complete and accurate architectural design and construction drawings to promote design excellence, including budget consciousness, durability of design, and understanding of the construction process. 

+        Maintain and develop the design discussion and the critical application of the design in the work. 

+         Communicate and document project tasks and responsibilities to project team members.

+        Distribute Notes and Deadlines after each meeting. 

+        Follow drafting and filing standards and monitor the accurate application of these standards by all team members. 

+        Use a systematic research approach to document the design process and its results clearly.  

+        Monitor and encourage clear research in team members. 

+        Coordinate all engineering drawings, specifications, and budgets to align with the project design requirements. 

+        Perform comprehensive code reviews and research. 

+        Perform construction administration to maintain design quality and uphold the requirements of the contract documents. 

+        Work on multiple projects concurrently and in various stages of the design and construction process, prioritizing and managing these tasks for successful completion. 

+        Maintain complete, accurate, and organized project records. 

+        Communicate and record the work process for the project record and for the improvement of the firm's institutional knowledge. 

+        Use examples from previous projects, then improve them. 

+        Use and improve firm checklists and templates to advance the practice's quality. 

+         Listen Carefully.

 

Required Skills and Abilities 

+        Applies design thinking to all projects, no matter the scope or scale. 

+        A good listener and a creative voice in the office. 

+        Ability to sketch, diagram, and otherwise graphically communicate ideas. 

+        Exhibits critical thinking and communication skills. 

+        Applies knowledge of building codes, materials, methods, engineering systems, enclosure systems, and environmental issues to the architectural design process comprehensively. 

+        Ability to comprehend and interpret building and zoning codes. 

+        Excellent analytical and research skills. 

+        Strong writing, specifically technical writing, and communication skills. 

+        Works with team members, clients, building occupants, and people in general in a pleasant and collaborative manner. 

+        Maintains professional confidentiality and discretion. 

+        Exemplary work ethic and ability to work both collaboratively and independently.

The Architect/Designer will support community-engaged architectural projects, including higher education, institutional, and commercial building projects, community and campus planning, multi-family housing, and custom-designed residences.

An Architect/Designer is responsible for understanding and developing project goals, contributing to the project team’s success, and striving for excellence in the work.

Minimum Experience, Education, and/or Training

  • +         0-5 years of work experience in architectural or related fields.
  • +         Bachelor of Architecture, NAAB accredited program.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • +         Prepare design drawings, models, renderings, diagrams, and other visual tools to help communicate project ideas.
  • +         Complete and clearly present, code, material, or context research and analyses.
  • +         Serve as a team member to complete construction documents, check shop drawings, and complete field inspections and reports.
  • +         Take notes, file, and support and follow digital organizational systems.
  • +         A good listener and a creative voice in the office.
  • +         Basic knowledge of construction systems and details.
  • +         Basic knowledge of civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering systems.
  • +         Exhibit strong time and project organizational skills.
