2020 AIA Florida Gulf Coast Board Elections


Guest Speaker will be Kenneth Treister, FAIA

The Court-Garden House

Kenneth Treister, FAIA, has spent a lifetime creating art and architecture. He is a Fellow in the AIA, an architect, painter, sculptor, photographer, author and lecturer.
 
Treister was awarded the Gold Medal by the American Institute of Architects, Florida, 2013, their highest honor and the Silver Medal and Lifetime Achievement Award, from the AIA, Miami. He was awarded the Life Time Achievement Award from the Miami Center for Architecture & Design, 2018.
 
Treister’s art has been exhibited in galleries and fine art museums throughout the world. He is a member of Real Academia de Belles Arts de Sant Jorge, Barcelona, Spain, established in 1849 by Elizabeth II as the Provincial Academy of Fine Arts.
 
Treister sculpted Miami Beach's world-famous Holocaust Memorial.
 
Treister has lectured at Universities in the United States, Chile, China, Israel, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, and Bali. He was an adjunct Professor of Architecture at the University of Miami and the University of Florida.
 
Treister has been published in over fifty journals. He has written 4 documentaries films for television on Art and Architecture: The Maya; Easter Island; Charleston, SC, for the Discovery Channel; and The Sculpture of Love and Aguish,for National Public Television, winning four prestigious national awards.
 
Treister has written twelve books on art and architecture:

Treister’s new books are: Gardens, Architecture & Art, The Humanistic Architecture of Kenneth Treister, published by Books & Books Press, with a foreword by world-famous author Tom Wolfe, 2017; and Frank Lloyd Wright at the University of Florida,published by LibraryPress@UF, Gainesville, Florida, 2017.
